AMHS

An AMHS is made up of components that move and store material in a factory without the need of human intervention. A few hundred cars might run on a system in a larger semiconductor fab, so this type of configurable transport system improves overall productivity and reduces wastes.

Material movement is done with a series of interconnected transport systems, which can include an overhead hoist transport (OHT), overhead shuttle (OHS), automated guided vehicle (AGV), rail guided vehicle (RGV) or a conveyor system.

Material stockers are placed in each bay of the factory. These stockers store the carriers, as well as being connection points between distinct transport systems. Success results from the proper timing and speed of all necessary pieces of equipment working together.
